See who’s beating you on Google

By sending this you agree to our privacy policy.

You can be the best in town and still not get the call.

When a homeowner needs a new roof, an AC replacement, a fence or a remodel, Google shows them three businesses first, and most people call one of those three. If you’re fourth, you’re invisible.

Most owners never find out. When they search from their own yard, they look fine. A customer five miles away sees something else.

  • See what customers see

From the middle of every town you serve, not from your yard.

  • See who wins instead

The competitors beating you, and the real reasons Google picks them.

  • Find out what ChatGPT says

We ask it what your customers ask, and show you who it names.

What’s in your report

Real searches, real results, from your towns.

Every report is built for one business. Here is what each part looks like, from a sample report for a fence company in Plano, TX.

1

Google Maps, town by town

We search the phrases your customers use from the middle of each town you serve, and record exactly where you come up. Most owners are surprised by how many towns they’re missing from.

We search from 25 points a couple of miles apart around where you’re based. It shows how far your reach really goes, and it’s usually a lot less than the area you cover.

The competitors showing up instead of you

The businesses that take the top spots most often, side by side with you: reviews, how recent they are, whether they reply. Often it isn’t reputation at all, and the report shows what it is.

What AI recommends

We ask an AI assistant with live web search the questions your customers ask, and show you its full answers: who it names, and the sites it read to decide.

Who’s the best fence company in Plano, TX?

My top pick is Summit Fence Co., with a long record of residential fences and strong recent reviews. Lone Star Fencing is a good second quote…

3 quick wins, and a plan

The report starts with 3 fixes that take a few minutes each. Do them yourself this week. Then, if you want, the plan we’d follow and what it costs. No pressure, and no call needed to read it.

  1. Use one phone number everywhere. Google trusts a business more when its listings match.
  2. Reply to your 10 newest reviews. A short thank-you that mentions the job.
  3. Add Frisco and McKinney to your service areas. Google can only show you where it knows you work.

How Google decides who gets the calls

Google says it ranks local results on three things: relevance, how well your profile matches the search; distance, how far you are from the person searching; and prominence, how well known and trusted you are, from reviews to links to mentions across the web. That is in Google’s own guide to local ranking.

Distance is why you can look fine from your own yard and be missing a few miles away. Relevance and prominence are why a business with fewer reviews can still beat you: its profile, its website and its listings make it clearer to Google what it does, and where.

The usual reasons you’re not in the top 3

  • Reviews have slowed down. Google notices steady, recent reviews, and replies to them, more than a big total from years ago.
  • A thin Google profile. The wrong main category, missing services or service areas, no photos of real work, no posts.
  • Listings that don’t match. A different phone number or old address on Yelp, BBB or other directories makes Google less sure you are who you say you are.
  • A website that doesn’t back you up. Pages that don’t name your services and towns, town pages that are copies of each other, or a site that is slow on a phone.

AI answers are the new top 3

More people now ask ChatGPT or read Google’s AI answer before they call anyone. Those answers usually name only a few businesses, and they lean on review sites, directories and your own website. If you are not in them, those customers never see you.

Why isn’t my business showing up on Google Maps?

Usually one of three things: Google isn’t sure what you do (a thin profile, the wrong main category, missing services), it doesn’t trust you yet (few or old reviews, listings that don’t match across the web), or the person searching is too far from where Google thinks you are. If you don’t show up even when you search your exact business name, the profile itself may be unverified, suspended or duplicated.

Why does a competitor with fewer reviews rank above me?

Reviews are only part of it. Google ranks local results on relevance, distance and prominence. A competitor can win with fewer reviews if their profile matches the search more closely, they are closer to the person searching, their reviews are more recent, or their website and listings make it clearer what they do and where. Your report shows which of these applies to you.

How does Google decide which three businesses show first?

Google says it looks at relevance (how well your profile matches the search), distance (how far you are from the person searching) and prominence (how well known and trusted you are, from reviews to links and mentions across the web). You can’t move your business, but you can improve the other two.

How do I get my business recommended by ChatGPT?

AI assistants with web search read review sites, directories and business websites before they name anyone. You are more likely to be mentioned when your Google profile is complete, your name, address and phone number match everywhere, you have steady recent reviews, and your website clearly says what you do and which towns you serve. Your report shows what an AI assistant says when customers ask for a business like yours.

Does my website affect my Google Maps ranking?

Yes. Google reads your website to check what your Google profile says. Pages that name your services and the towns you serve, load quickly on a phone and use the same phone number as your profile help Google trust and rank you. Copies of the same town page with only the name swapped tend to do little.

How long does it take to move up on Google Maps?

Quick fixes, like matching your phone number everywhere or completing your profile, can be done in a day. Moving up in more towns usually takes a few months of steady work: reviews every week, an active profile, better town pages and more listings. Nobody can honestly promise a position, because Google decides.

What exactly is in the free report?

A private web page made for your business: where you show up on Google Maps in each town you serve, a map of your reach around your base, the competitors showing up instead of you and why, what AI assistants recommend, your website and listings, 3 quick wins, and the plan we would follow if you want help.

Is the report really free?

Yes. No card, no sign-up and no catch. Some owners who read their report ask us to do the work for them. If you don’t, you still keep the report and the quick wins.

How long does it take to get my report?

Thirty seconds to ask. Your report is in your inbox within one working day.

Do I need to give you access to my Google account?

No. We only look at what your customers can already see: Google search, Google Maps, AI assistants, your Business Profile, your listings and your website.

How is this different from a free SEO audit tool?

Automatic audit tools check settings from one place and give you a score. We search from the towns you serve, the way your customers do, look at the businesses Google puts ahead of you, and tell you why, in plain words.

Can I fix it myself?

Yes. The report starts with 3 quick wins that take a few minutes each. If you would rather stay on the job, the plan and prices are at the end, with no contract.
